Questions & Answers

  • Is the initial consultation free of charge?
The initial consultation costs CHF 10.00. If you subsequently decide on an initial treatment plan, the costs for this will be credited to you. Planning costs of CHF 275.00 are incurred for the creation of a plan without treatment.
  • How long does an Invisalign treatment take?
The duration of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of the case, but is usually between 3 months and 3 years.
  • Is an Invisalign treatment painful?
No, treatment with Invisalign (or other aligners) is not painful. After inserting a new set of aligners, there may be a slight feeling of pressure at first.
  • How regularly should the aligners be worn?
It is important to understand that the success of Invisalign treatment depends on how long the aligners are worn. The aligners must be worn for the recommended amount of time per day (usually at least 20-22 hours) to achieve the desired results. Compliance with the wearing time and regular check-ups with us are crucial for the success of the treatment. However, under the guidance of Sahar Haroon, you also have the option of wearing your aligners only at night, as night aligners!
  • Is the Invisalign result long-term?
Invisalign is a long-term solution for correcting misaligned teeth. The aligners are changed at specific intervals to gradually move the teeth into the desired position. After the active Invisalign treatment is completed, a retention phase is usually recommended to ensure that the teeth are stabilized either with a permanent wire or with a retainer that is worn at night. We recommend at least three years of stabilization. For long-term success, it is important to follow our advice and instructions throughout the treatment to achieve optimal and long-lasting results.
  • What are the causes of teeth grinding (bruxism)?
Teeth grinding can have various causes, such as a malfunction of the temporomandibular joints or other orthodontic problems. Stress is often the trigger for grinding, but it can also be caused by poorly fitted dentures.
  • Can damage occur with untreated bruxism?
As night-time teeth grinding can damage teeth and existing dentures in the long term, it is important to take measures early on. In addition, complaints such as headaches and tinnitus can occur over time. Many sufferers also suffer from sleep disorders, which can lead to persistent tiredness, concentration problems and reduced performance during the day.
  • What are the benefits of Botox treatment for teeth grinding?
In contrast to other therapies for bruxism, the use of botulinum toxin (Botox) eliminates the underlying cause of teeth grinding. As a result, this treatment achieves more long-term results and can achieve lasting success if used regularly.
  • Who are brackets suitable for?
Brackets are particularly common when all permanent teeth have erupted, which means that there are no milk teeth left. This treatment method is often used in pediatric dentistry and for adolescents, as it is effective and can correct a wide range of malocclusions.
  • How does treatment with brackets work?
Numerous appointments are usually required to successfully correct teeth with brackets. Brackets and wires are applied to the entire dental arch to gradually move the teeth into the desired position. It is important that these wires are regularly adjusted or replaced by an orthodontist to ensure that the desired tooth movements can take place.
  • Which malocclusions can brackets correct?
Brackets can be used even for challenging misaligned teeth. They can correct both tooth and jaw misalignments and are used in conjunction with other treatment methods for various problems, including Overbite Overbite Tooth inclinations and crooked teeth Gapped teeth Open bite Deep bite Crossbite
  • What are "dark triangles"?
"Dark triangles" refer to the gaps that can appear between the teeth as the gums recede or shrink. These gaps can cause dark shadows to appear, which can affect the aesthetics of the smile. They are often caused by gum disease, bone loss around the teeth or other anatomical conditions. Treatment for "dark triangles" can vary depending on the cause and may include a combination of gum treatments, orthodontics or cosmetic dentistry.
  • How can "dark triangles" be corrected?
To correct "dark triangles", we offer the option of treatment with hyaluronic acid, among other things. Hyaluronic acid is injected specifically into the affected areas to increase gum volume and minimize the gaps between the teeth. This non-invasive method can help to restore a harmonious appearance to the gums without surgery or a palatal mucosa graft. We will decide on an individual basis whether hyaluronic acid therapy is suitable for you and what results can be achieved. After the treatment, your smile will appear fresher and more youthful, as the "dark triangles" are reduced and a harmonious overall appearance is created.
  • For which patients is the use of Orthopulse not suitable?
Orthopulse is not suitable for periodontitis, infections in the oral cavity, taking medication for osteoporosis or epilepsy.
  • What conditions do I need to meet to be able to carry out a bleaching and how can I maximize the result?
For successful bleaching, we recommend performing professional dental hygiene a maximum of 2 months before the appointment to ensure an optimal tooth surface. We do not recommend whitening if you have numerous erosions on your front teeth, suffer from vomiting, have many advanced cavities or defective fillings, or wear dentures such as plastic abutments or crowns. Before bleaching: A professional teeth cleaning can improve the bleaching result as it removes tartar and plaque. We offer a combination package of teeth cleaning and whitening. Avoid discoloring foods 1 to 2 hours before bleaching and fill out the health questionnaire to address your individual dental situation. During bleaching: Our professional bleaching is painless and without peroxides. The bleaching gel is applied in 4 sessions of 15 minutes each. Dental restorations such as veneers can only be restored to their original color. After treatment: Avoid discoloring foods, drinks, mouthwashes and smoking for 24 hours. Long-term result: Optimize your white smile through good dental care and oral hygiene. Use our Whitening Strips and Whitening Toothpaste Extra White for a week after whitening to maintain the result.
  • How does bleaching work and what types of discoloration are there?
During our bleaching treatment, external discoloration of the tooth enamel is removed. There are two types of discoloration: extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic discoloration is caused by external influences such as deposits, while intrinsic discoloration affects the inside of the tooth, i.e. the enamel or dentin. The dentin determines the color of the tooth and can be slightly darker than the enamel for genetic reasons. Depending on how much the dentin shines through the enamel, intrinsic discoloration can occur. If the dentin is darker, it may not be possible to achieve the desired result with bleaching.
  • How long does the whitening effect last and how strong is it?
We want to make sure that you have a realistic understanding of the results of our teeth whitening before booking your appointment. People with a lighter starting color (A1, B1) or those who have already had bleaching within the last two years often achieve a stronger result than initial treatments. For darker initial colors (below A2), stubborn discolorations such as yellowish, brown or orange stains may not be completely removed. In such cases, we recommend a second treatment within 3 months if necessary. The whitening effect can last up to 18 months, depending on your lifestyle. Diet, smoking and individual tooth condition influence the durability of the results.
  • Does teeth whitening always work?
No, teeth whitening does not always work for the following reasons: In the case of fillings, crowns or dentures, their coloring remains unchanged, as only natural tooth structure can be whitened. In the case of dead teeth, bleaching from the outside cannot be effective and requires treatment from the inside. In the case of natural teeth, bleaching may not achieve the desired whitening effect on thin or transparent enamel and dark dentine. Stubborn discoloration of the enamel may require a second treatment within 3 months for optimal results. If bleaching does not achieve the desired results, veneers may be an alternative option.
  • What is the difference between in-office bleaching and home bleaching?
With in-office bleaching, the treatment is carried out in a dental practice or a specialized studio such as ALPINE WHITE Studios, while with home bleaching you can carry out the treatment in the comfort of your own home. In-office whitening offers faster and more effective whitening that is supervised by a professional, while home whitening is a convenient and more cost-effective option for those who prefer to whiten at home. The choice between the two methods depends on individual needs, preferences, time and cost.
  • Why are my teeth discolored?
Teeth can become discolored for various reasons. This can be caused by certain color pigments in food and drinks that are deposited on the tooth surface. Stimulants such as smoking, coffee, tea and red wine can also lead to discoloration. With increasing age, the outer enamel can wear away, revealing the yellowish dentin underneath. Tooth injuries, root canal treatments, tooth decay and some medical conditions can also lead to discoloration.
